Backyard Makeover for HGTV's Landscape Smart, Southeast Minneapolis, MN

Chad provided me with a landscape plan which included a complete remodel of my backyard. He listened carefully to what I wanted and provided a design that met every expectation. In addition to being a great designer, he was also an expert craftsman and built a cedar pergola and copper pipe trellis for climbing roses.
I was matched with Chad as part of filming an episode of HGTV's Landscape Smart. He served as the designer for my project, picking out all plants, trees, shrubs, and materials for the yard. I got a fabulous cottage garden that exceeded my wildest dreams. Chad was extremely knowledgeable about landscape design and contracting, and helped teach me how to care for my new yard once it was complete. He worked long hours to get the project done on time and on budget. I found him to be easy to work with and enthusiastic about his work. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a landscape designer or landscape contractor.

Diggit Landscaping transformed our back yard and alley entrance into a sanctuary. Our neighbors drive by slowly and tell us how much they like it. We first called Diggit to help us with water redirection and building of a rain garden next to the garage. Chad Folstad designed a completely different flow for the backyard and lower garden. We liked his artistic vision and hired him. Not only did Chad and his crew build a beautiful, native plant rain garden, but they also built a cedar arbor over which the gutter directed the water from the garage, a matching fence with a Japanese motif, and a retaining wall. Other things they did: Put our house gutters into a French drain system. Removed the concrete pad despite re-bar by hand. Installed a round paver patio with paver paths. Replanted our whole back yard and added fertile soil and mulch. Shored up the footings of the deck and replaced the stairs. Replaced a rotted fence post. Replaced garden on other side of garage.
Chad was very easy to work with and loves the art of his work. Considering how much we had done, I think it was reasonably priced. Our project required a lot of debris removal, and use of the truck and trailer, so there were times when the hard-working crew was waiting to continue. The project took a little longer than expected; however, I did not pay any extra in labor costs for the wait time. I would recommend him to anyone who loves gardens and landscapes, and wants something unique done in his/her yard.

Backyard Redesign with Water Redirection Minneapolis, MN
Basically they scraped our backyard bare and started over. Put in pavers, contoured the land into hills and wet spots, made water drain away from house, put in lots of plants and trees, mulched everything and left a yard ready to enjoy.
Wow. Chad and his crew are awesome. Our new yard is the envy of the neighborhood. It is simple, elegant, peaceful, a wonderful place to sit and enjoy morning light and evening calm. The guys were more than pleasant, they were cheerful, extremely accommodating (to the point of letting our dog out for a pee). You can't miss with Chad. He gave us far more, than we paid for. We are astounded by the results. I have this vision of him in five years, if he is able to maintain this level of service as he grows. He will spend his spring and summers landscaping his heart out and then retire for winters to his new home on some Carribean Island. I know he's gonna grow and prosper. Bachman's, watch out.

Backyard Redesign with Stone Steps, Patio and Gardens, Minneapolis, MN
I had water problems in my newly purchased house due to a concrete apron around a large screened porch which sluiced water into the foundation. Getting the concrete removed and the yard regraded was part of the solution. I decided to make some lemonade out of these lemons and engaged Chad to put in a new terrace and rebuild a three-tiered flower garden in my back yard that was falling apart. The deconstruction was more than anyone could have expected; they found a concrete patio under the concrete patio and then severely impacted clay soil. It took Chad and his crew three or more days just to get the concrete out and haul it all away. Then they regraded the lawn, brought in new soil, and sodded the whole thing. They also did wonderful non-related things like pulling concrete stanchions from an old fence out of the ground. Then they built a wonderful new circular paver terrace with attending sidewalks and planting areas. The tour de force is a new rock garden.
This was one of the most pleasant experiences I have had, on both a personal and aesthetic standpoint. Chad is a highly gifted landscaper with a true artist's eye. He used gitche gumee boulders for the rock garden, with wonderful placement, and then planted an artful assortment of shrubs and trees, including in planting areas near the walkways and terrace. My yard is literally transformed from a scruffy space to a garden of delights. Chad and his crew showed up when they said they would and were great to work with. I would rate this company high on integrity and talent.

Total Yard Makeover, Northeast Minneapolis, MN
Chad at Diggit Landscaping transformed our mundane - overgrown yard into a peaceful wonderland. His vision and love of the landscaping trade - as well as love of japanese gardening techniques put him in a class by himself for landscaping. Highly recommended.
